Position:

Trainee Train Assistant
Location: Belfast and Lydenburg (Mpumalanga)

Position Purpose:

Assist the Train Driver in the safe and efficient handling of various types of trains (airbrake, vacuum, high speed, heavy haul, and passenger trains). The goal is to ensure that freight and cargo reach their destination on time and in good condition, contributing to customer satisfaction.

Requirements:

• Grade 12 with Pure Mathematics and/or Physical Science.
• Be willing to undergo periodic medical surveillance and safety behavioral risk assessments (every 12 months).
• Physical fitness and ability to pass hearing, vision, and mental tests.
• Minimum height: 1.6 meters.
• Ability to carry heavy objects.
• Psychomotor ability: Assessed through the Vienna Testing System (VTS).

Training:

• Candidates will undergo theoretical and practical training to become certified as Train Assistants and must be prepared to work independently once certified.

• Must be willing to undergo ongoing medical checks and safety assessments.
