Position Purpose
Assist the Train Driver in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of trains while meeting customer expectations for timely and secure freight delivery.
Requirements
To qualify for the position, applicants must meet the following criteria:
Education:
Grade 12 with pure Mathematics and/or Physical Science.
Age & Physical Fitness:
Must be at least 21 years old.
Minimum height: 1.6m.
Ability to carry heavy objects.
Fit in terms of hearing, vision, mental, and physical health (assessed through medical tests and safety behavioral risk assessments).
Other Pre-Requisites:
Psychomotor ability, tested via the Vienna Testing System (VTS) standards.
Willingness to undergo periodic medical surveillance and annual safety behavioral risk assessments.
Training Program
Successful candidates must:
Complete theoretical and practical training to independently perform Train Assistant duties.
Obtain a Train Assistant Certificate for independent work.
