Purpose of the Internship
To provide education and training in pharmaceutical care, enabling interns to address patients’ medicine-related needs responsibly while promoting lifelong learning.
Requirements
Essential Qualifications and Skills
- Grade 12 / Matric
- BPharm (4 years)
- Computer proficiency (MS Office)
Advantageous Qualifications and Skills
- Work experience during BPharm degree (holiday work)
- Familiarity with Unisolve and E-Scripting
Key Responsibilities
Pharmacy Practice
-
- Conduct services under the supervision of a registered pharmacist.
- Handle Schedule 1 & 2 medicines, assist with compounding and repackaging, manage prescriptions, and provide patient instructions.
Customer Service
-
- Assist and advise patients at the dispensary and self-medication counters.
- Handle prescription queries and errors, provide guidance on medication costs, and ensure customer satisfaction.
Stock and Operations
-
- Manage stock levels and participate in stock-taking.
- Adhere to standard operating procedures, maintain accurate records, and ensure compliance with safety and health standards.
Administrative Duties

- Capture and process prescriptions.
- Handle medical aid claims and resolve errors.
- Maintain and update customer profiles.

Advantageous Skills
- Knowledge of retail operations and complementary medicine
