The City of Johannesburg is offering various internship programs in different fields. The purpose of these internships is to provide students with on-the-job exposure, which is a pre-requisite for acquiring an academic qualification or obtaining experiential training after acquiring an academic qualification.
The City is committed to providing work-based training to students.
The following internships are currently available:
1. Transport Systems Management Internship
Requirements:
– Youth in the Johannesburg communities who have never participated in an internship program before.
– Qualifying students in the Johannesburg community for a period not exceeding 18 months.
– Grade 12 at NQF level 4 with at least 1st year completed (2 semesters complete) of the Diploma / Degree in Civil Engineering or Town and Regional Planning or Transport Management.
– Only City of Joburg residents will be considered.
2. Paralegal Internships
Requirements:
– Youth in the Johannesburg communities who have never participated in an internship program before.
– Qualifying students in the Johannesburg community for a period not exceeding 18 months.
– Grade 12 at NQF level plus National Diploma in Law / Legal Assistance / Paralegal or related field (NQF level 6).
– Only City of Joburg residents will be considered.

An internship program is an intervention by the City of Johannesburg to address the growing demand by a tertiary institution for students to undergo on-the-job exposure, as a pre-requisite to acquiring an academic qualification, or as a requirement after the acquisition of academic qualification to obtain experiential training.
