DRIVER OPERATOR (X26 POSTS) Component: Roads Infrastructure Maintenance
SALARY: R124 434 per annum (Level 03)

REQUIREMENTS: An undergraduate qualification (NQF level 03 or equivalent) as recognized by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA). Five (5) years of driving experience. Valid Driver’s license (Code EC) except for applicants with disabilities. Competencies: Communication, Ability to read and write, Good eyesight, Teamwork, Operation of the equipment, Physical inspection 197 of vehicles, and interpreting instructions for proper use of all controls for the safe operation of vehicles. Interpret and follow operating manuals, maintenance manuals, and service charts.
DUTIES: Perform activities in respect of operation through Operating specialized equipment. Load and offload goods/equipment. Inspection and maintenance of equipment and report defects. Keep log sheets of vehicles and machinery. Application of safety and precautionary measures. Cleaning and lubrication of machinery/equipment. Grading of gravel roads re-graveling/shoulder maintenance. Render driving services. Perform activities in respect of operation through Transportation of work teams and materials/ equipment. Detect and repair minor mechanical problems on the vehicles and take steps to have them repaired (check the level and condition of oil, fuel, tires, and water). Inspection of the vehicles/ equipment and report defects. Complete the vehicle logbook, and trip authorization for the vehicle.
