Description
Position: Civic Education and Citizenship Coordinator
Department: Legislature
Division: Office of the Speaker
Salary: R401 124 – R550 260 per annum (plus benefit)
Core Responsibilities: Render administrative support and logistical functions regarding Civic Education and Citizenship programs, promotion and awareness of community participation, information sharing, and data collection
Draft and develop Civic Education policies to promote and create awareness
Design and develop public education strategy to ensure active engagement with stakeholders
Facilitate the mainstreaming of Civic Education and governance to empower communities
Establish strategic partnerships with other spheres of government and with organized structures of the civil society to ensure the implementation of intergovernmental programs
Facilitate and coordinate governance programs in educating employees about the role of the Department and Council
Compile monthly and quarterly reports on all coordinated events to inform the Legislature of community activities
Monitor and evaluate the implementation of civic education outreach programs to empower Departments and disseminate information
Facilitate and ensure effective communication between Legislature and community to review, revise and develop new policies and strategy
Create a database of all relevant stakeholders to ensure proper register and administration
Report to the Executive Manager on all matters relating to civic education programs to comply with all the processes as directed
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:Diploma in Public Administration / Local Government or a relevant equivalent NQF Level 6 qualification
Verbal, written, and interpersonal relationship skills
Computer literacy
A valid driver’s license 4 years experience with a community background and administrative knowledge
